In order to maintain these high standards we remain committed to the QDS Programme of Training Seminars. These half day training events target individual technologies and aim to maintain all our knowledge at the cutting edge. In addition employees are regularly given the opportunity to attend external safety and management training courses to ensure all staff are provided with the best tools to enable the very best performance. For new starters, QDS offer an intensive induction programme which aims to bring individuals with no experience, or experience in different sectors, up to the high levels expected in today’s contaminated land remediation market.

In addition, all QDS staff partake in the quarterly company events which aim to provide a level platform of knowledge and to introduce the latest technologies under development by QDS, and most importantly, to bond with peers and celebrate the successes of the previous quarter. Also all staff undergo an annual appraisal process which aims to help target training and development needs of the individual as well as ensuring individuals are gaining a broad range of experience through a suitable variety of different types of projects and technologies.

Given the state of the market we are presently not recruiting.  However, descriptions of our staff roles are as follows: 

Project Managers, Guildford and Sheffield

Project Managers will develop the ability to handle a diverse portfolio of remediation projects, often incorporating innovative approaches and technologies.  Candidates should have good communication and people management skills, an organised approach to work and a proven track record either in the contaminated land industry or within project management in general. A science or engineering background is a benefit. Relevant experience could be in contaminated land, but equally in mainstream civil or process engineering, the water or waste management industries or more diverse fields.  The Project Manager will be required to effectively manage all aspects (technical, personnel and commercial) of large, complex, often time constrained projects, with appropriate support. The Project Manager will be fully supported by technical specialists and while some experience of remediation and regeneration projects would be of value, this is not a prerequisite. Above all else a good attitude is the most important attribute sought by QDS.

Site Engineers, Guildford and Sheffield

Engineers are required for detailed design, installation and maintenance of process based remediation systems.  Sound practical abilities are necessary with a relevant trade/technical qualification a benefit but not essential.  An existing knowledge of remediation technologies would be of benefit but are not essential. The nature of the work may require periods of time away from the base office. Above all else a good attitude is the most important attribute sought by QDS.

Senior Environmental Scientists/Engineers, Guildford and Sheffield

Experienced Environmental Scientists and Engineers are sought to work on leading edge contaminated land remediation projects throughout UK .  Candidates would benefit from having an experienced background in some aspect of the contaminated land industry. A good relevant science or engineering qualification, a background in contaminated land investigation, risk assessment or particularly remediation are highly beneficial.  Excellent analytical and technical writing skills are highly beneficial but above all else a good attitude is the most important attribute sought by QDS.

Environmental Scientists, Guildford and Sheffield

Environmental Scientists and Engineers are sought to work on leading edge contaminated land remediation projects throughout UK .  Candidates should have a strong desire to work in the contaminated land remediation field. A good relevant science or engineering qualification and a solid background in contaminated land investigation, risk assessment or remediation are all beneficial.  Good analytical and technical writing skills are helpful but above all else a good attitude is the most important attribute sought by QDS.
